The SSL certificate for services on host.hostname.com will expire in less than 30 days

Today, I received the mail of SSL certificate will expire in less than 30 days on cPanel server. Self-Signed Certificates are installed on WHM / cPanel servers by default for security. These certificates expire just like SSL Certificates from a Signed Certificate Authority. You may have received an email from your server, such as “Certificate for services on hostname will expire in less than 30 days”.  As long as your SSL Certificates are Self-Signed, this procedure will resolve that email notification.

This type of mail if you received then here is the solution given.

Certificate for courier-imapd on hostname.domainname will expire in less then 30 days
Certificate for cpanel on hostname.domainname will expire in less then 30 days
Certificate for exim on hostname.domainname will expire in less then 30 days
Certificate for courier-pop3d on hostname.domainname will expire in less then 30 days.

The mail body look like below message :

Your server’s SSL certificate for <Service> will expire in less than 30 days. You need to install a new certificate as soon as possible. You can install a new certificate using WHM’s “Manage Service SSL Certificates” interface: https://host.hostname.com:2087/scripts2/manageservicecrts (Main >> Service Configuration >> Manage Service SSL Certificates).

Solution :

If you want to resolve this issue then follow the below steps and resolve it.

Many services uses self signed certificates for communication and is valid for one year. You need to renew this certificate in every year. You can renew the certificates from WHM as follows.

WHM login >> Main >> Service Configuration >> Manage Service SSL Certificates >> Reset Certificate

Enjoy 🙂 !!!
